Friends of Strays welcomes Jennifer Silva, Director of Development

Friday, July 22, 2022

We are excited to welcome Jennifer Silva to our team!

In her role as Director of Development, Jennifer will seek out and build relationships with local businesses, adopters, donors, volunteers, and other supporters to increase engagement and donations in support of the shelter, as well as maintain close ties to the shelter’s many current supporters. Jennifer is a Florida native and USF graduate who has been working in the nonprofit sector for 25 years, including many local organizations in a variety of roles. She’s been an “unofficial” animal champion throughout her life and believes animals are a unifying force in an often-divided world.

  • What drew you to FOS?: “The mission and vision of Friends of Strays strongly align with my values and aspirations, and I knew I could use my skills to make a significant impact at this organization – and ultimately in the lives of animals in need in this community.”
  • What pets do you have at home?: “My 14 year-old cat, Camilla, whom I adopted from Friends of Strays in 2008. Up until a few years ago, she was one of 4 pets in our household including two large dogs. Now, she is living her best life as a golden only child.”
  • Random fun question:  What's something you want to do in the next year that you've never done? “Get a tattoo!”
