Friends of Strays Competes in March Muttness 2022 Fundraising Competition

Monday, February 28, 2022

Friends of Strays, St. Petersburg’s oldest no-kill animal shelter, is participating in March Muttness 2022, a nationwide fundraising competition for nonprofit animal welfare organizations. Organized by the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, March Muttness 2022 features 64 animal shelters and rescues competing in a head-to-head knockout tournament.

The tournament kicked off Tuesday, March 1. Friends of Strays defeated La Plata County Humane Society of Durango, Colorado in the first round. FOS will face Rosie's Southside Animal Shelter of Indianapolis, Indiana in the Thrilling 32 starting Saturday, March 5 at 11 a.m. The second round will end Monday, March 7 at 11 p.m. To donate, click here

While the shelters compete against one another, it is the animals that win. Every dollar raised by Friends of Strays will go toward supporting our animals and programming, helping us improve the quality of life for animals throughout Pinellas County. Friends of Strays had a record-setting year in 2021, completing 1,547 adoptions, up from the previous record of 1,276 in 2020. The shelter also completed more than 4,000 surgical procedures in our medical facility, including spay/neuter surgeries for more than 1,000 unowned community cats.

We’re off to a successful start in 2022, with our January and February adoption counts topping January and February of 2021.
