We are honored to share that Friends of Strays was recognized as a top transfer partner by Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control in celebration of Adopt a Shelter Pet Day!
This recognition reflects the strength of collaboration across Florida’s animal welfare community and the shared commitment to saving lives. At Friends of Strays, we are proud to work in partnership with more than 30 shelters and animal services organizations throughout the state to help dogs and cats most at risk.
Because shelter overcapacity remains a crisis in Florida, we focus our lifesaving efforts only within the state of Florida, first in Pinellas County and Tampa Bay, and then the state at large. We exclusively partner with in-state shelters and organizations to take in animals who are at risk of euthanasia due to space or resource limitations, doing our best to reduce the burden placed on these large intake shelters.
Each transfer represents a second chance. These animals often arrive with medical or behavioral needs, and they are met with immediate care, compassion, and support from our staff, volunteers, and fosters. Their journey from overcapacity shelters to adoptive homes is only possible because of the dedication of shelter staff, rescue partners, volunteers, and supporters working together.
We are deeply grateful to our partner organizations across Florida who continue to collaborate with us in this life-saving work. Their commitment, along with the generosity of our community, makes it possible to give more animals the futures they deserve!
