Friends Of Strays Sets Record With 4,017 Surgeries Performed

Friday, December 31, 2021

This has been an AMAZING year here at Friends of Strays. It feels like we've been celebrating a ton of milestones and new records in 2021. First, we broke our annual adoptions record in October. Then we welcomed our 1,000th community cat of the year to the shelter for no-cost spay and neuter services through the Pinellas Cats Alive! program. Just last week, we reached the 1,500 adoptions plateau!

But most exciting of all, our amazing medical team performed it's 4,000th spay/neuter surgery of the year on Tuesday! Can you believe that? 4,000! Last year, we set a record with 2,607 of these surgeries, but 2021 has been nothing short of fantastic in our mission to serve animals and those that love them here in Pinellas County. Performing as many surgeries as our team did will help lighten the load for animal welfare organizations in Pinellas County in the coming years. More spay/neuter surgeries this year means fewer homeless kittens and puppies in 2022.
