Matching Gifts
Double or even triple your impact!
Did you know that many companies offer matching gift programs where they match charitable donations their full- and part-time employees or retirees at a 1:1 or even a 2:1 ratio?
This means your donation to Friends of Strays, can go twice or even three times as far to help save homeless animals in Pinellas County and beyond.
Some local employers that match employee donations include Publix, Raymond James, AIG, Wal-Mart, Suntrust, Bank of America, and The Tampa Bay Times just to name a few!
It’s easy to set up employer matching gifts for your donations to Friends of Strays. To get started:
STEP 1 – Ask your employer about matching gifts
Visit your employer’s website, Corporate Philanthropy Department or Human Resources Office directly to find out if they offer a matching gift program.
STEP 2 - Apply for your match
If your company offers matching gifts, follow their instructions on how to initiate a match for your donations and submit the appropriate form(s). For most companies, this means simply completing an online or paper form and returning it to Friends of Strays.
STEP 3 - Send us your forms
Once your employer is ready to match your donations, you can submit the necessary information through your company’s online portal (if available), or if necessary, scan copies and send them to erin@friendsofstrays.org or mail to:

STEP 4 – We’ll take it from here!
Once your match is confirmed, it will be submitted and your company will send the matching donation directly to Friends of Strays. You will be notified by mail once we receive the matching gift donation from your company.

How long does it take for a matching gift to be processed?
Payment times vary by company.
I need Friends of Strays' tax ID number (EIN) and/or W-9 letter to apply for a matching gift.
Friends of Strays' Tax ID number (EIN) is 59-2156540 . Please contact erin@friendsofstrays.org or (727) 522-6566 ext.111 to obtain Friends of Strays W-9 document.
How can I check the status of my matching gift?
If your company uses an online portal, you can often check the status via your workplace intranet. If that is not an option for you, please contact erin@friendsofstrays.org or (727) 522-65660 ext.111. Be sure to include your company name, original gift amount, and original gift date in any correspondence to help us best assist you.
Why wasn’t my matching gift approved?
It can take several weeks for matching gifts to be confirmed and for your company to then issue payment. In other cases, your company’s match policies may prohibit approval of the match. Please contact your Corporate Philanthropy Department or Human Resources Office for guidelines with your company’s matching gifts program.
